Job Summary
We are seeking a grounded and emotionally mature Yoga Teacher with strong philosophical depth. The ideal candidate is rooted in traditional yoga, capable of holding space with clarity and compassion, and able to communicate effectively with an international student community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Yoga from a recognized institution
- Formal training in Yoga Philosophy and classical yogic texts
- Prior teaching experience (retreats, TTC support, or regular classes) preferred
Core Competencies & Skills
- Philosophical Knowledge & Traditional Practices (Essential)
Strong, lived understanding of yogic philosophy and practice, including:
- Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
- Bhagavad Gita
- Hatha Yoga Pradipika
- Core concepts: Dharma, Karma, Samskara, Gunas, Kleshas
- Yama & Niyama and yogic ethics
- Ability to integrate philosophy into daily life and teaching
- Clear understanding of yoga as a path of self-awareness, discipline, and emotional balance, aligned with Oceanic Yoga’s values
Essential Practice-Based Competence
- Strong foundation in Hatha Yoga
- Solid understanding and practice of Pranayama
- Mantra chanting with correct intention, rhythm, and basic pronunciation
- Understanding the role of breath and sound in nervous system regulation
- Willingness to learn and adapt to Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, and related practices
- Communication & Presence
- Calm, confident, and grounded teaching presence
- Proficient English (spoken and instructional)
- Soft-spoken, respectful, and conscious communication
- Ability to convey complex concepts in a simple, experiential manner
- Emotional Intelligence & Conduct
- Well-mannered, humble, and respectful demeanor
- Ability to manage personal emotions and respond consciously
- Capacity to hold space with sensitivity and stability
- High standards of consistency, integrity, and self-discipline
- Embodiment of yogic values on and off the mat
- Professional Attitude
- Punctual, reliable, and responsible
- Willingness to follow Oceanic Yoga’s methodology and code of conduct
- Openness to feedback, learning, and self-reflection
- Ability to live and work harmoniously in a residential, team-based environment
Preferred (Added Advantage)
- Experience with Yoga Teacher Training Courses (TTCs)
- Exposure to Yin Yoga, Meditation, advanced Pranayama, or Sound Healing
- Experience working with international students
- Long-term interest in growing within the Oceanic Yoga community
